Alternate Viewer

Post by Manfred »

Hello!

I configured MaxView as external viewer for *.JPG files and IrfanView as alternate viewer for *.JPG files. When I press F3 the image is correctly displayed by MaxView, but when I press ALT+F3 (or Files > Alternate View) the image is always displayed as hex view by the internal viewer.

I can't figure out what's wrong. What is my mistake?
Any hint is welcome!

Best regards
Manfred

Hi Manfred, Alternate Viewers are driven by Options > Configuration > Alternate Viewers.

The default alternate viewer is Internal Viewer. You can insert your own viewer there.

More information about viewers usage and configuration:

Note: did you insert your viewer before "closing" Internal Viewer's *.*? Anything you append AFTER *.* will be ignored because file will be displayed by Internal Viewer (higher position in the list = higher priority).

Hello Jan,
thank you for your quick reply. But that's exactly what I did (see attached image) - and it does not work, see my original post.
Regards, Manfred

Yes, it is the problem. Please move your mask up, in front of *.*. Mask are executed top-down.

We should probably improve documentation and explain our term "priority list".
