Unexpected File Format

I recovered some deleted data. Then used ss to combine the files, but when i try to launch the .fla that I need. it says "unexpected file format". This also happens with many of the .jpegs that I recovered. I had a couple of .xls files in the same folder and can get excel to open them, but it says it has to rebuild them first, but then does open them correctly. The .fla is the correct size on disk, it just does not open. The folder that has the project I need always comes up as read only. I have changed this attribute, but it goes back to that every time. Please help - the client needs my changes ASAP! Thanks.

It looks like fla/jpg/xls files was not recovered correctly.
Which software did you use for files recovery?
The recovered partition was NTFS or FAT?

Hint: try to keep this partition untouched, so you can try another recovery software,
