Hi,
I like the ability to select mutliple items with the mouse, but usually after I have done what I wanted to do, I usually have to de-select the files by hand (Ctrl-D).
To save this trouble, I would like it if there was an option to automatically de-select multiple files once an operation has been completed on them.
Not sure if this can be done, because it would need to detect operations initiated through the right-mouse click menu, but it would be good if it worked.
Thanks
Auto de-select after action
Re: Auto de-select after action
You can deselect files using mouse too (using Unselect all icon in toolbar OR click with right mouse button somewhere in the panel not on file and then cancel the popup ***)Mysterio wrote:I like the ability to select mutliple items with the mouse, but usually after I have done what I wanted to do, I usually have to de-select the files by hand (Ctrl-D).
*** actually I would like to ask Altap for disabling this side effect (?), when I right-click by accident not on the file I want but on empty space it clears my selection
my approach
I use CTRL+D to unselect
Kind regards, KNUT

Ironically enough my job is software design and programming.KNUT wrote:Come on _wake up_ and go back to your job!johnd126 wrote:[...]Having to do ctrl-D after each operation gets a bit tiresome. thx John

If SS is going to be as awkward to use in its own way as Explorer is its way why would I want to pay for SS? It only makes sense to ask for changes to make it work easier.
As I see this, there are situations where the selection needs to be preserved, and others, where it could be discarded. The program cannot know, however, which is desired. And as I said, this is not a choice by user, but depending on the situation.
On the other hand, if it is cleared, it can be restored by pressing CTRL+W, if it is preserved it can be cleared by using CTRL+D. So this provides all that is needed to handle any situation and would allow for an option to let the user choose a default behaviour.
As it is now, the selection is cleared with some operations, but preserved with others. I could not make out any rule, when Salamander does one or the other. Is there any rule?
