Hi there,
after update of 2.53 with the same options as before there is no start of external editor possible. An error box pops up with the (translated from German to English by me): "Error to execute Editor 'C:\Programme\UltraEdit\UEDIT32.EXE /i=e:\dat\ini\UEdit\uedit32.ini'. (123) Wrong syntax for file name, directory or drive."
Only "C:\Programme\UltraEdit\UEDIT32.EXE" in configuration works fine.
"C:\Programme\UltraEdit\UEDIT32.EXE /i=e:\dat\ini\UEdit\uedit32.ini" (with double quotes) doesn't work too.

Re: 2.53 - Problem to start external editor
Reiner, thank you for this information. What was your previous version of Salamander?
Please check your Registry for key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.52
or for beta version:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.53 beta 2
Could you please compare old
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.53 beta 2\Editors\1
to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.53\Editors\1
Is content of these keys (Editor configuration) same?
Note: It is possible UEDIT32.EXE will be in another key name, for example '2' instead of '1'.
Another idea: when you switch Salamander to English language (Options > Configuration > Language), does your editor work?

Re: 2.53 - Problem to start external editor
Are you entering the arguments (/i=e:\...) into the Arguments field?
Ελληνικά rulez.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.52 or 2.53 beta 2 doesn't exist anymore after update

I am using the German version. In the configuration mask there are three input fields (I will translate it to hopefully correct english terms):
Command:
Parameter:
Run in:
Which of them do you mean with "Arguments"?
BTW: What means "Ελληνικά rulez."? "Ελληνικά" I can translate (I had to learn old greek in school
), but what does it mean?
Thanks both for you posts!

@Jan
An additional information: I use the command to configure the external editor since years without a change in the configuration when a new Salamander update (beta or final) comes. In (very) older versions I exported the config reg keys, changed the paths in reg file and imported the changed reg file.
I think since version 2.5 Salamander preserves the configuration during an update.

Arguments means parameters.rvbuerk wrote:Which of them do you mean with "Arguments"?
I think you hit the same problem as here.

When you switch Salamander to English language (Options > Configuration > Language), does your editor work?
It looks really strange, we didn't touch this code between AS 2.53b2 and final version 2.53.

Saying that something rules or "rulez" is a way to say it's superior. I've had the signature since joining this forum, and I really meant it back then. Now it's just interesting when someone notices it.rvbuerk wrote:BTW: What means "Ελληνικά rulez."? "Ελληνικά" I can translate (I had to learn old greek in school), but what does it mean?
Ελληνικά rulez.

Hi there!
@Jan Rysavy
Switching language to English has no effect.
@Ether and Jan Patera
Splitting the calling command line in to the exe call and the parameter string in the parameter field as shown in the link mentioned by Jan Patera takes effect. Thanks to both.
@Jan Rysavy again
>It looks really strange, we didn't touch this code between AS 2.53b2 and final version 2.53.<
Yes, because I am using the call string a long time without any change.

Re: 2.53 - Problem to start external editor
Just an off the wall guess, but perhaps something similar to, Is 2.53 beta 1 Not Registering salamext.dll ?? As in some registry entry was pointing to some old entries & was being used? And now with 253R, that has changed?
WinXP Pro SP3 or Win7 x86 | SS 2.54
