Count Directory's and show it

A new nice feature wouold be, that the information-line shows the number of DIRECTORYS shown above...

Did you know, that if you select some items in a panel, then it's counted in the status bar (files and directories separatedly)?
The fastest way is to press Ctrl+A and that will select all items in the panel and count them for you (in the status bar). If you don't want to lose your previous selection, use Ctrl+Shift+F5 and Ctrl+Shift+F6.

It would be very nice to have the option to show the number of files (and yes directories) without having to select anything. It seems a very common thing to be able to want to do and it would be nice if that was an option for the information line.
