Checksum plug-in: One SFV per directory

Hi,
Checksum plug-in already has recursive directory scanning, but all results are stored in a single checksum file.
I'd like to be able to select a single directory and have Checksum plug-in create one checksum file in each subdirectory (based either on content filenames or directory name), if checksum file is not already there.
Also, does Checksum plug-in have to use modal window for scanning? CRC checksum creation can take quite a while and I cannot continue my work until it's done.
