For copying or moving files there is a checkbox option available with the following name/label.

"Wait until all other copy/move operations are finished."

Because of the physical restraints of a hard drive it is usually much faster to copy files sequentially than parallel. That is why I almost always use this option when copying or moving files.

Unfortunately the default setting for this option is "unchecked". Is there some way to "check" this option by default?

I'm afraid there is no such option yet.

Hint: the fastes way to queue copy/move oprerations is by pressing keys F5 /F6 then directly Alt+W without clicking on Option button.
