Combine
You need to copy the contents of all the CDs to the same directory on the targt harddrive. So you have name.ext.001 ... name.ext.nnn and name.ext.bat in this directory, where nnn is the number of parts you split the original to. Then run the batch file.
If you start the batch file from a console window, you will be able to read the screen when the batch file has done it's work and thus maybe will be able to see if something went wrong.
ALTAP: you should enhance the .bat file to check whether each copy was successful and stop copying more if one failed.
I have never tried this, but is the Combine Plugin able to request missing parts from a removable media drive or from any other path? (If I had need for this plugin, I would probably not have twice the space of the original available for recombination.)
