Word and Excel files take forever to load

Word and Excel files take forever to load

When I attempt to double-click a Word or Excel file from within Servant Salamander, it takes forever for Word or Excel to open and, then, quite a while longer for the file to load. I do not have this problem with pdf, text, or other types of files. I realize this might be a "Microsoft" problem, but am hoping that someone at "Salamander Support" can help me.

Is it the same when you do it from explorer?

Microsoft Office might be very slow while browsing for files on the open/save dialogs whenever there are any network connections which are unreachable. This might be the case for loading files by double clicking them too. So, please, make sure all your defined network connections are reachable. To check, enter

from the command line. In the output there will be a column giving the connection state for every defined connecton. remove those which are not connected.
