New Limitation when Installing 2.5

Hi guys,

I just installed 2.5, and got through an annoying limitation that just appeared: your cannot install it any more in the same directory as the previous version.

This is a pain: I have moved the shortcuts to Salamander into non-default places in my start menu, and it means I would have to update my shortcuts for each new installation. I worked around it, renaming the install directory before installing, and then removing the old version manually, on the disk and in the registry. Could you:

1. At least, allow installing in the same directory, as before.
2. If possible, handle the upgrade process in the installer (copying the old configuration, importing registration keys, etc.)

Thanks for the good work, anyway.

BTW, do you guys have this incredible summer weather we have in Paris for now one month? The earth global warming is no joke, at least for us...

Hi Thierry,

I'm sorry for this trouble, we plan to support "upgrade" directly in installer, but we didn't manage to finish it for Salamander 2.5.

To install final version 2.5 over (to the same directory) older version of Salamander (2.0 or 2.5 beta/rc):
1. from old version export configuration using menu Options > Export Configuration
2. uninstall old version of Salamander (configuration will be removed, the registration keys stays)
3. open (double-click) the exported configuration to import it back to Registry
4. install final version 2.5

From the final version of Salamander 2.5 the uninstaller asks if you want to remove configuration and registration keys (screenshot below). Another small step to improve the setup process. We will also provide the MSI support.

From Altap Salamander 2.51 it is possible to upgrade old version of Salamander (install to the same directory). Old configuration and registration keys will be imported.
