Hello everyone,
I’m currently setting up my business in the UAE and find myself with a rather large volume of administrative documents to manage (articles of incorporation, VAT compliance, supporting documents for the accounting firm, etc.). For those of you who use Salamander daily in a professional setting, do you have any tips or scripts for automating the renaming and sorting of these accounting documents into folders? I’m looking to organize my files properly to make it easier to transfer data to my advisors in Dubai without spending a ton of time doing it manually.
Automation for accounting document management
Re: Automation for accounting document management
Hello,
I’ve been thinking a bit since I posted...
Actually, regarding the automatic renaming part in Altap Salamander, I tested some scripts using user commands, but my real headache was mostly the file names coming out of my accounting system with dates in UAE format (like dd/mm/yy without leading zeros), which completely messes up alphabetical sorting. I had started looking into daftime.ae to better understand the date format standards used locally, and honestly it helped me structure my regexes much better.
The question I’m asking myself now is: since you handle the transfer to advisors in Dubai, what exactly do they expect in terms of folder structure on their side? Because if your accounting already uses specific software with its own filing system, you might as well align Altap Salamander directly with that instead of inventing your own system.
