Hello,
slightly off the usual topics here. I’ve got quite a lot of images of wall clocks (different styles, angles, sizes), and I’m trying to organise them properly on Windows. Problem is, file names are a bit messy, so it gets confusing pretty fast.
With Salamander, what do you usually use for:
quick previewing
batch renaming in a clean way
sorting by “style” (modern, minimal, etc)
I noticed there are plugins available, but I’m not fully comfortable using them yet.
If anyone has a simple workflow that works well for handling a large number of images without too much hassle, would be helpful.
Managing and sorting product-style images (wall clocks)
Re: Managing and sorting product-style images (wall clocks)
Hi,
Just adding a small follow-up—I’ve run into a pretty similar issue with a large image collection.
In Salamander, to keep things simple without relying too much on plugins:
Quick preview: F3 (built-in viewer) works well for quickly sorting without opening other software
Batch renaming: the built-in batch rename tool is usually enough if you stick to a simple naming convention (e.g. clock_modern_minimal_001)
Sorting by style: I personally ended up creating fairly “broad” folders (modern / vintage / minimal / ornate), then doing a quick visual sort rather than trying to over-automate it
For the “category inspiration” part, it helped me to look at style references to define the folders more clearly at the beginning—for example, browsing ideas like stylish wall clocks quickly gives a good sense of the main visual families.
In the end, I think the key is to keep the structure simple from the start, otherwise it gets messy pretty quickly once you have a lot of images.
Curious to see if others have more automated workflows
