Filter for file-extensions you not want to see would be a great feature.

It is here, just read mask hints in the filter dialog...

But why does all the filter have to show in the "path-bar"?
The filter-sign should be enough.
Now if you filter out many extensions you only see a part of the path
or maybe nothing at all.

It is not answer to your question, only workaround. You can temporarily Maximize/Restore Panel via Ctrl+F11 to see more of your path.
