SS hangs on CTRL+F7 (find)

Post by lukasb »

i'm running a core2duo 6400 system with xp pro sp2, on a p5w asus mobo.

the system completely hangs when i try to initiate salamander's search function.

most of the times i cannot ctrl alt del out of it, and the mouse cursor even disappears after a while.

i'm suspecting this may be a harware issue.

thanks for any help.

btw this was with both ss 2 and 2.5 rc1 evaluations.

by the way, i tried running two instances, and 'freeze' the other to provide a bug report. not only had this not worked, it also froze the second salamander instance after having pressed the 'break' button under help > task list.

strange indeed.

i have some more facts to contribute (sorry to be stretching this into so many posts).

1/ the bug described above didn't occur before (the very same day, on the very same setup. everything worked like a charm, tried overclocking, no problems either. after a few hours of operation, SS would start to freeze all of a sudden. clocking back to normal CPU speed - which im running now - didn't help, nor did reinstalling SS).

2/ the same problem occurs on many more occasions, eg. when trying to view (f3) a file on any disks, hard or DVD.

3/ i haven't encountered any issues in other applications. had to install total commander, which has worked seamlessly so far.

thanks for any suggestions to get round this -- id like to continue using SS.

I have no idea how to help you, it will be probably some system or software conflict on your computer.

Is it possible your system is infected by virus?
