Deleted files are not moved to Recycle Bin

Post by Guest »

I have two disks. The primary C: and a secondary F:. When I delete files located on the F disk these are not moved to the Recyle Bin, but are permantly removed (as it seams). Deleting from disk C is fine. I use WinXP.

Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, Helen.

PS: of course I do have the "move deleted files to Recycle Bin" option turned on

What type of disk is drive F:? How is it attached to the system? Is the recycle bin enabled for that drive (see recycle bin's properties)? How much free space do you have on drive F: and how large are the files you tested this function on?

Is the problem related to Servant Salamander or does it happen the same when you delete from Windows Explorer?

It's a regular IDE, the same as the C disk.

yes

I tried it with relatively small files. They definetly fit in the free space. And the Recycle Bin is not full.

And....GEE!!! I thought it was, but I did a litle testing and it seems that it's not. It actually happens with the Windows Explorer too.

Sorry about that :) I guess I will have to look for a solution elsewhere.

Try look at Desktop > Recycle Bin > Properties.

Btw, when you press the Delete key (with some file focused), does the confirmation message display "Are you sure you want to send 'file.txt' to the Recycle Bin?" for your disk F: ?

I got 2 ide drives, and i just deleted a file from the secondary drive. I did get the message "are you sure you want to send the file to the recycle bin?".
The deleted file was found in the bin, no problem and i used SS to test this.

Yes it does. That's the weird thing :?
I've tried changing a little the RB properties (ie configuring the disks separatly, changing the reserved space etc) but nothing happened. Geez! This is getting on my nerves!

Sure. I found it in several places, but here are some tips all together (scroll down to find "Recycle Bin")
