Support for Apple devices (iphone& iPad etc)
Support for Apple devices (iphone& iPad etc)
Hello,
for a few years now, I would love to see support to access photos from my apple devices. When I attach them to my Pc, Windows Explorer can access the device, but I cannot seem to get to them in Salamander.
Could this feature ne added? (or is there already a 3rd party plugin somewhere)?
cheers

All devices that appear in Windows Explorer but don't have a letter (e.g. F:), will be accessible using the not-yet-finished Folders plug-in, once it's released. Unfortunately, it seems the work was put on hold as it's relatively low priority in comparison to Unicode, UAC and 64-bit support, which are planned for the near future.

Thanks for the reply Ether.
Any idea how this functionality can get bumped up in priority again?

Nope. The priorities are set for now. I assume there will be a discussion about what to do next, after the features I mentioned are finished.nl05369 wrote:Any idea how this functionality can get bumped up in priority again?

Samsung S3 is running Android, and there you can switch the connection to Mass storage mode. Then everything will work (and much faster, at least on S2 it does).mzvarik wrote:I also can't wait for this function... Samsung S3 i9300 not there either.

Not working... After connection it says "connected as mass storage" in the phone and there are two options:Tomas Kopal wrote:Samsung S3 is running Android, and there you can switch the connection to Mass storage mode. 1) MTP (default - transfer of media files)
2) PTP (camera files)
Either one makes no difference, doesn't show in Salamander.
It does always come up in Windows Explorer (windows 7) as "Samsung S3 Phone"
Btw. I don't have a SD card inside the phone.

It seems that in newer Android versions, USB mass storage option was removed. That may be also your case.
You can either use some 3rd party application to re-enable it (e.g. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/a ... -sandwich/ or http://www.xda-developers.com/android/u ... axy-s-iii/), or you need to use MTP mode with some other file manager (e.g. Explorer), as AS does not currently have any support for devices in MTP mode.

I was able to view contents of iPhone/iPad with Salamander using TC Proxy with T-pot plugin for Total Commander. It is rather old and made for iPod only, but still works for me.
So it doesn't seem to be too difficult to implement it directily, does it?
