New AS plugin: Portabe Devices (MTP & PTP protocols)

Post by Jan Rysavy »

We would like to announce a new plugin: Portable Devices. It is presented in Change Drive menu (Alt+F1/F2) and allows accessing portable devices supporting MTP/PTP protocols. It would be possible to browse, copy, move, rename, delete, and view files and directories on Android phones and tablets, Apple iOS devices, Windows mobile devices, digital cameras, portable media players, etc. It is based on the Windows Portable Devices (WPD) layer. Both x86 and x64 Salamander versions are supported. Plugin type: file system. Plugin is implemented by our friend Manison and will be released in Early Access Program. Plugin will be part of standard Altap Salamander license (no extra payment as for WinSCP, PictView, and SFX).

 Awesome. How long will it take to get the plugin? This is my largest feature request.

Is there a early test version of this new plugin? I'm using a Windows Phone Lumia 920.

It is available only in our internal build (Windows 7+ only). For now only folders browsing is working - no operations (View, Copy, Move, Rename, Delete) are supported. Manison is working on plugin foundations. It looks he is testing plugin on his Windows based phone.

after 4.0 is out, will see any progress in this plugin? It would beklp to copy/move data from/to smartphone. Explorer is often buggy here.
