How do I get out of Difference in File Compare?

I did a binary file compare using the plugin, and got some differences.
I went to the Difference dropdown, and selected one. But after that, I had trouble to get out of the Difference box using the keyboard.
How do I change focus to the display pane? I tried Tab and F2, but had to grab the mouse and click.

The main reason I want to get out of the dropdown is the difference in navigating between successive differences: Up/Down inside, but Alt+Up/Down outside of the box. And both Up/Down outside and Alt+Up/Down inside the box have a (different) function. I understand why it works like this, but it's not very intuitive.

Esc works for me (Win XP).

I wouldn't navigate with Up/Down in the Difference box, I just use Alt+Up/Down in the panes...

Esc works for me too (Vista x64 and XP MCE), thanks! I did not try Esc, afraid of closing the comparison I suppose...
I also see that (for instance) P and N work in both places, great!

Can Tab also be made to leave the Difference box perhaps? And/or please advertise Esc somewhere. The Help now just says:
Escape Close File Comparator or cancel current operation

Now I know how to reach the panes again, I'll leave Up/Down in the Difference box alone.
