Hello,
it seems like it's only possible to check for update with the microsoft internet explorer active. Is it possible to change that behavior, so that the check for updates is possible with the firefox browser or other.
On my maschine, the microsoft internet explorer is blocked for internet access.

Check for Update
MSI Explorer? msi is the name of the most common type of installation databases used by the windows installer. Did you mean MS Internet Explorer (MSIE)?hhk99 wrote:Blocking is very simple. Just use a dummy proxy adress and activate it only for the MSI explorer.
Activate Proxy adress only for MSI Explorer You mean you configure only MSIE to use that proxy, not any other program?
Many applications use the MSIE's communication settings for their own communication needs. I don't think there is an API to query the current default browser's proxy settings, so how should the Check Version Plugin determine it?
Unfortunately I did not find an option to configure the proxy the plugin should use.
I suggest you add Altap's site to the list of URLs which do not use the proxy in MSIE's proxy configuration and see if it helps.
This is exactly what I ment, sorry for misleading text.Did you mean MS Internet Explorer (MSIE)?
That is easy, but the thing I do not want. I'm not familiar with windows api's, but as far as I know, using the api will always result in a call to the MSIE.I suggest you add Altap's site to the list of URLs which do not use the proxy in MSIE's proxy configuration and see if it helps.
When there is no other simple sulotion, I'll continue updating Salamander via the altap homepage.[/quote]
The Check Version plugin takes the proxy settings from IE configuration, so there's probably no way to use Check Version with dummy proxy set.
