Why i can't edit files on FTP server?
SALAM must:
1. automaticaly download file to temp dir
2. user edit it, and exit
3. SALAM upload it automaticaly
Make it please.

If you think little bit more about this. You'll find a lot of stuff, that will complicate whole action. I.e. permissions on FTP, closed connection (or lost connection), detecting application close (I mean finished editing, 'cause closing app. isn't what are you looking for), etc., etc. etc.lumega wrote:Why i can't edit files on FTP server?

I know this function would be nice (and any problem can be solved, it's only about time (and money)), but I'll be happy with 64bit, Unicode, etc. more than this. And editing file on FTP "by hand" doesn't so big deal, IMO.

<noflames>Well, you are right, there are many more important features still missing in Salamander. However, I can understand lumega's wishes. I am used to them as well. This particular wished feature is indispensable for me when editing web pages on my web server. I always have several instances of FAR running, I have not adapted myself to Salamander fully yet. Sometimes it is not pleasant to "downgrade" to Salam that doesn't have some features that FAR does have. Although I must say the main reason why I use FAR that often is the fact it is a console app.</noflames>cincura.net wrote:If you think little bit more about this. Jan Patera, you are right a bit.
FAR - best solution for developer. But few day ago we upgrade all our projects for UTF8. So FAR is leak.
I try to find alternative: TOTAL COMM, SPEED COMM, FRIGATE... one word - monsters... All of that softwares write on Delphi. They need huge heap of memory (>10mb) and not fast as i wait.
I try to adopt SALAM for us. Turn off all useless plugins (>2mb). As editor use NOTEPAD++.
Steal waiting some important features.
