AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
We would like to ask you for comparing AS 2.54 / AS 3.0 PB75 / Windows Explorer network copy speed.
Copy the same large file over your network (wired or wireless) and take Task Manager screenshot as we did in http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?t=5447
We have report (Czech only) about slowdown introduced in AS 3.0 PB75: http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5493
How does AS 3.0 PB75 work on your network? Please let us know...

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
1,01GB file over 100Mb/s local network, Win7CZ
1. AS 3.00x64, Avg. speed 10,60 MB/s
2. AS 2.54, Avg.speed 3,05 MB/s
3. WE, Avg.speed 11.10 MB/s
Edit: copying from my Notebook to Win2008 server. I will test the oposite direction later...

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Are those data from upload or download? Could you test the opposite way as well. I have encouraged problems while downloading file from remote to local drive in the Czech post.MartinS wrote:1,01GB file over 100Mb/s local network, Win7CZ

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Test in 100Mbit LAN at work. Test in Gigabit LAN at home will follow ...
Writing speed to network seems to be O.K. But strangely older Salamander is faster in reading from network than the public beta

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Meanwhile I have tested some more other file manager. None of them had shown this problem with the low copy speed.
Could you solve the problem?

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
I have no more hope, because I started an thread with the same problem in December 2011 here (http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5252) and nothing happened
Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Ran across this - FWIW; 15 Free File Copy Tools Tested for the Fastest Transfer Speeds.
(No I'm not promoting anything or any method, but just look at the [often quite] varying results obtained by all these products promoting, in the broadest sense, "speed".)

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Thanks, interesting test! We will patch our copy routine to use more simultaneous transfers at one time to get better network performance, so we may try to compare it with some of these tools.

Re: AS 3.0 PB75 - Network copy speed test
Faster asynchronous algorithm is implemented from Altap Salamander 3.0 beta 3 (PB103).
Please test it across your networks and let us know in a new thread if you find any problems. Thank you.
