+1 to Jan's suggestion. Doesn't make sense on new files.

Step cursor on folder and press F3 (VIEW) - must calculate size of folder (with subfolders) In Salamander, Spacebar does this.
Correct, but I think that lumega is right. F3 should do something if a folder is selected. What comes closest to "viewing" a folder? Calculating the file sizes is one ...

+1 for editing on FTP server. I maintain some web-pages/server and I miss that feature regularly.

1) Provide a RoadMap
2) If you provide dates, then deliver on that date (a due date long gone is far worse than no due date)

- I don't like the idea that a resident program monitors all my UI activities only to act on some keypresses I do in Salamander

Putting the forum in place switched on the light for the community. Incredible 1253 (and counting) posts from Jan and the new and changed features in the last releases prove that this is not only a marketing gag.

I second SvA's request. I once wanted to filter for selected files (hide the unselected ones). My first (and only) guess was the filter dialog where I did not find this option and assumed that the Salamander cannot do this.

It would be nice if Sala would support macros. For a start several keystrokes could be summed up under one macro.
It should be possible to place a macro in the user menu and to assign a macro to a key (or a combination like Ctrl+F). If this shortkey is already defined it should override the default ...

IIRC Microsoft itself said, that hiding menu parts in Office was bad idea - users weren't able to predict when particular feature would hide and it was difficult for users to find features they wanted. This was one of the reasons for the new Ribbon UI.

if you consider to implement in-panel folder trees it would be very handy to have an option to split panels horizontally (top and bottom panel instead of left and right panel).
This could also be a useful feature in conjunction with Custom panel columns from the road map.

Yep, that would be a nice impovement. I like the idea of a modifier key. But why not make it also work with View, Edit, Delete and so on?
<modifier key>+<click icon> should auto close the find window, regardless what you click.

I agree with KNUT and omega. ALTAP should focus on the core. There are too many good freeware editors available already. Everybody can link his/her favorite editor to Sala without a problem.
