Same SFTP server, upload speed with WinSCP standalone (same PC) is greater at least in 30 times. Always reproducible.
Upload speed with
WinSCP plugin - 35-40 Kb/s (avg)
WinSCP standalone - 1.8 MB/s (started 300-400 Kb/s, 1 MB/s after 5 seconds, and 1.8 after 15 seconds)
File size - about 200 MB.

Thanks for your report.
What version of WinSCP are you using?
Can you attach a complete session log file both from WinSCP application and WinSCP plugin?

SFTP server, port 22.
One more test from different PC, even different country:
winscp.spl - 1.6.9 (salamander 3.0 beta 4 x86) - 35 Kb/s upload
WinSCP 5.5.0 Build 3839, same file/server/folder, 256 KB/s upload
I'm not sure to share session logs because of privacy issues. I'm sure one is easily able to reproduce the problem.

Can you please run the test using WinSCP 4.4 (version the plugin is based on)?

Yes, Martin, the same low speed with WinSCP 4.4, thanks.
Any plans to fix the plugin in Altap Salamander? This is a serious issue I think

Thanks to Martin for the fix. I have built fixed version of WinSCP for 3.0 beta 4 and sent it by email to dufreyne. Please let us know if it helps.
I have tried it on my connection and instead of 350KiB/s it uploads at 850KiB/s, so it seems to solve the problem.
