RAR re-packing executed in the external program

Hi,

I have two instances of SS installed (laptop and desktop). If I add new file to the RAR archive on my laptop, operation executed in-place (in-panel?).

When I perform the same operation on my desktop SS starts a new window (DOS prompt) and tries to execute it there. How can I enforce "laptop" behavior on my desktop SS?

Thanks,
Dima

Look at Options > Configuration > Archive Associations in Panels.
Find the RAR;R## item and check what type of archiver is associated in Delete and Pack combobox.

Look at Options > Configuration > External Archivers Locations for archiver paths.

It points to the
"Win32 RAR console executable (tested with v2.50)"
which points to the
C:\Program Files\WinRAR\RAR.exe

I am using WinRAR v3.4

Thanks,

YEs, they are exactly the same - this is what puzzles me.

Thanks,

How are you adding the file to the archive? Using the pack dialog, or copying to a pannel with the opened archive?

Dependent on how you do it, different configuration options do apply.

I hardly ever use the pannel mode. With an external packer launched from the pack dialog, the packer starts in a minimized console window in the background. After some while, if the operation takes longer, the minimised background window pops to the front.

Could you verify whether you get these windows on both computers, please.

Furthermore you say '... tries to execute it there.' Does it try and succeed or try and fail?
