file creation date

Post by DanR »

Copying files from my mp3 recorder onto an XPsp2 system.
Salamander 2.5 beta 11 is changing the file creation date and time.
I can't quite figure out what it's changing it to, though.
Sometimes it's current, sometimes it's not.
If I copy the file multiple times, renaming between, they all get the same creation.
Windows Explorer gives me current.

Anyway.
Is there a setting somewhere to keep the original timestamp?
Salamander 1.6b3 behaves the way I want.

Salamander is setting only Modified (last-write) time. Created and Accessed times are set by Windows, it should be set to current time, but it doesn't always work. I have tested it on Win2K and XP and it behaves the same way in Explorer and Salamander -- describe step by step with newly created directory how to reproduce difference you have found. Send also what is your target file systems (NTFS/FAT32/etc).

There is no option to copy Created and Accessed times. These times should not be copied (according to some MS recommendation), so we have fixed it in version 2.5 beta 4.
