File open in Salamander 2.5

I have a file, which when I try to delete it, Salamander tells me it is open in Salamander and to close it first. I've tried everything I can thing of to cause it to close, except deleting Salamander. I can copy it to another folder but not move it.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Try searching for the file name using the Handle command-line utility or Process Explorer. They should be able to show which process is blocking the deletion and also force-close the file "handle" if you need (and are aware of the consequences).

If one of the utilities above confirm that the offending process is Salamander (salamand.exe), then I'd like you to find a way to reliable reproduce this problem (so you can choose a file on your disk and make it so that Salamander can't delete it and show the aforementioned error message) and post the exact steps and screenshots here. That should help finding the reason why Salamander is blocking the file.

Another helpful tool that kinda integrates with Salamander is the Offender plugin+application for Salamander.

Another utility worth looking at, Nirsoft's OpenedFilesView, View opened/locked files in your system (sharing violation issues).

(Note that it has severe, IMO & where I would not recommend it, limitations under an x64 OS.)
