HDD to USB Copy Problem - Windows7 64bit

Hi,

since i switched to 64bit, i noticed that Salamander has issues to Copy Data from
HDD to USB. It doesnt matter if the file is large or small, Salamander shows
realy fast 100% but takes a long time to finish and start the next file.

Using Windows Explorer goes smoothly and a lot faster than in Salamander.

HDD > HDD works well in Salamander.

Any Ideas?

The next thing is, i want to know if Salamander is discontinued?
V2.54 is rather old and since its release no Update.

Cya

We plan to switch from internal Salamander copy routine to standard Windows copy function. Salamander will copy files with Windows Explorer speed.

We are working on AS 2.55, please see http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4371

Will there be an option to use the old routine?

Could you briefly explain the difference (from developer POV)? Will all the other features of current copy left intact (pause, speed, ...)?

Windows CopyFileEx() function does some advanced processing, see Inside Vista SP1 File Copy Improvements:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinov ... 26167.aspx

We will probably need to use our current copy routine for some advanced Copy/Move options, but we don't know details until it will be implemented.

For AS 2.55 we will try to improve speed of existing copy routine because it will stay in Salamander as mentioned fallback.

I know about the new stuff in Vista (SP1). I was just curious what the AS is doing internally.
