Here's the image: http://dlaa.me/FeedWorm/NetworkError.png

Save it to disk. In thumbnails view it appears as a black square - same for PictView. Neither is correct.

Windows Photo Viewer, Paint, Internet Explorer, and paint.net all show it correctly as an 'X' with a transparent background.

FYI, this image was created via PNGOUT from a PNG image that Salamander did render correctly.

Win XP:
(I'm unable to determine "transparent background")

Black box:
  • IrfanView
    MS Paint
    Pictview
KPIC (also has PNGOUT on his page)
XnView (1.97.7, so an older version)
FastStone Image Viewer (4.2, so a bit older)
Black X:
  • SeaMonkey/Firefox (dark, perhaps not black, background)
    IE (white background)
FastStone Image Viewer (4.2, so a bit older, thumbnail view)
So maybe it just depends on the viewing programs "background" color & how that relates to the color of the image itself?

So the image, being black, displayed on a black background, does not "show".
The image, being black, displayed on a white or lighter background, does show up?

(I'm only guessing, no clue actually.)

Wrong guess it appears :o.
