I always liked the Commander like file manager scence in Dos 5.0 days. Dosshell was worth less.

There was only two kiind of people back then NC or XTG. I was the NC guy. Even moved over to windows I was using NC to do my files until LFN start to screw thing more and more. I tried all kinds of Commander type software and end up liking the SS software. Plug-ins are very useful, they do everything I wanted to do, especiall love the file renamer plug-in.

People talk about Portable here, the potable one I carry on my flash drive is FC.exe work real good for doing simple file manage stuff.

Well, just copy the following files to your stick and you can use SS without installation via your stick:

- salamand.exe
- salrtl.dll
- salamand.key
- language-directory with one slg-file

What is FC.exe?
But I still using 1.52 like portable version.
Very cool, simle, compact file manager tool. :)

You're absolutely right! IMHO There's no doubt, that 1.52 is a cool and simple portable file manager (i.e for my USB-Stick).

It would be so great if ALTAP continue develop SS 1.x too!
With restrictions of course: no plugin support, no archive support, no toolbars, no icons. Even without internal viewer, but just like platform with abillity to switch external applications, more keyboard shortcuts and operations in file panels like in SS2...

I am using 1.52 at work, because it's free.
And I like that there is all in one EXE.
