What version of 7-zip plugin do you have? I have 1.1 beta 11. And my 7-zip plugin didn't crash as your, but only refused to create folders named in unicode. I get an error dialog with the following message:
Error Creating Directory
Name: blah blah ...
(123) The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
Why? Because there were in archive bagel_0.2.2_g19a1.7z folders like 自動ログイン, 標準セット, タブ移動 and Google改造.

salamand generated a .bug file , i think it is not prob of 7z file, it might be the prob of the plugin, i hv no prob with zip or rar file with same unicode filename
my system is windows2000 english version with chinese as default regional setting , i successfully extract all zip and rar file with both chinese and japanese filenames, and my salamander is latest release beta11 and my 7zip plugin version is 7zip 1.1beta11

The mentioned file is no longer available. Could you post a valid link?

On the page
http://ipt.sakura.ne.jp/gecko/bagel/ is browser Bagel. Bagel is a web browser based ON the Gecko layout engine and made with Delphi6. Only Japanese version is available now.
Now is there newest version of mentioned 7z archive:
http://ipt.sakura.ne.jp/gecko/bagel/bag ... 8_g19a1.7z
The 7-zip plugin have problems with this archive too.

I downloaded the
http://ipt.sakura.ne.jp/gecko/bagel/bag ... _g19a1.zip but cannot reproduce the Servant Salamander crash during extraction.

My 7-zip plugin didn't crash too, but Vincero has Windows 2000 English version with Chinese as default regional setting. Maybe it was the culprit, but I didn't test it with this regional setting. As I write, my 7-zip plugin only refused to create folders named in Unicode. I get an error dialog with the following message:
Error Creating Directory
Name: blah blah ...
(123) The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
I supposed that this behavior is expectable, because of missing Unicode support.

I've no problems with the 7-zip archive, beside the strange directory names like "????"

Yes, I reproduced the crash on WinXP with Simplified Chinese regional settings (which seems to be crucial). Salamander starts doing weird things already when entering the archive. Thanks for reporting this problem!
