7z Archive Password Dialog Confusing

Just a quick note to say that after entering an incorrect archive password I found the Password dialog confusing.

Perhaps related to:
+ Don't ask for the same password of a single archive multiple times.

I'm light on specifics at the moment ... but it was either with a 7z or rar archive.

Probably 7z. Dialog was like, Delete | Keep | Cancel. Wasn't clear what it was going to do.
Ended up leaving a 0 byte file.

In the past, thinking I would have been prompted again to enter the password.
As it is (& it was unexpected to me), I had to exit from the archive, go back in, re-attempt the extraction so that it again prompted me for the password.

Just a bit confusing. No big deal, but on the first time seeing it ...

OK, it was 7zip.

And maybe it is not a Salamander issue at all, but just the way that 7zip works. (It is possible I had never run into a password protected 7zip archive before.)

That must be it. A non-issue.

(Opening a password protected 7z does not show the 'E' attribute to identify it as password protected. Rar & ARJ do.)

Is it related only to changes made after 2.52 or does it affect AS 2.52 too?
(in such case it doesn't belong here and we should move this thread)

OK, it was 7zip.
In addition to what Jan Rysavy has said, I also have a comment:
Can you please write clear reports clearly saying what and when? It is quite difficult to follow someone else's mental flow and guess what the actual problem was...

Sorry about that. Guess I wasn't clear enough.

This is not a Salamander issue at all.

Just so happens, yesterday was the first time I came across a password protected 7zip archive.
And I happened to enter the password incorrectly on the first attempt.
It is 7zip (the plugin dll) that presents (what was to me) the confusing dialog & not a result of any change to Salamander.

---

If you did want to see the dialog I received ...

Pack a file using 7-Zip.
On the second page of the Pack dialog, choose to encrypt the file.

After created, go to extract the file, but purposely enter an incorrect password.
At that point (7-Zip) presents the Delete | Keep | Cancel dialog.

we should move this thread
That's fine.

Aha, so after the long story you are actually talking about this: When unpacking encrypted 7zip archive with the wrong password in AS 2.52, the following dialog is shown. You find it confusing.
---------------------------
7-Zip
---------------------------
Error processing file 'MLBDuoTone copy.eps'.
The wrong password may have been entered.

Do you want to delete or keep this file?
---------------------------
[Delete] [Keep] [Cancel]
---------------------------
