Hello,

In options > configuration > panels > sorting > sort by extension : consider extensions in directories names
even if the checkbox is checked or not, the extensions in directories' names are not considered...
Is this description clear enough or do i have to add more information ?

Sorry, i didn't see that there was an upload functionnality to attach to the post (i took me time to find )
Here it is, you can see on both panels that the extensions are not separated as they were before.
PS: isn't possible to attach with an icon ?

Yes, it's a new patch in 2.52. Directories has no extension and right now the only exception is mentioned option Sort by extension: consider extensions in directories names. But it doesn't affect anything else, only the sorting.

We are looking for screenshots and feedaback from AS 2.52 users. We can introduce a new option, something like "show separated extension also for directories names".

I was so used to it, and it was so useful for many reasons ...
I hope you will introduce this functionnality back , it helps for sorting by localization for my pictures, for "tagging directories with the year" (but i don't put the year in the beginning of the dirname cause i access to the directory by typing, it helps to put a status label too "done, in progress, not yet, ..." and the sorting is more readable if the extension is separated.

Youri if you want to fast search a directory by typing you can allways hit \ as a first character and then continue typing.

Thanks Selfman, but since i'm on a azerty keyboard i cannot use this incredible function....
It's seems that the "\" generated by a qwerty KB is interpreted differently that the "\" generated by the azerty KB....
(it works if i simulated the qwerty input with windows, but it's not useful at all)

Youri, the Quick Search mode can be activated by '/', '\', and '<' keys. The '<' key was introduced for German keyboard layout. It looks it should work also for your AZERTY?

OK, it seems that more users lack this feature, so we will add option to enable "extensions" of directories in separated Ext column.

@ Jan Rysavy : Thanks a lot, i didn't know this feature, it reminds me a lot, the "jump" option in winamp in which the list is refreshed for each character you type and only the filenames including the typed sequence are shown. I never sent this request because i thought it would be too difficult. Maybe should I post a request ...

Might be the quick search could be enhanced a bit by "if not on begining, look for substring" functionality.
I don't think this should be hard to implement as the code already exists and its just a matter of a conditions - what when.

I'm not sure what you mean with the "substring enhancement". We should probably create a new thread because we are OT here.

I have changed "Sort by Extension: consider extensions in directories names" checkbox (Configuration/Panels) to "Treat directories as if have extensions (also show extensions in Ext column)" and newly it also means that "extensions" of directories are displayed in separated Ext column. It will be available in 2.53 (also in its preview build).
