Export/Import Hot Path

Hi,
I moved my Salamander Installation to my new notebook.

Exported the configuration on the old PC and imported it on my new one - all worked fine except that I lost all "Hoth Pathes"

After Importing the configuration file, the "hot path" panel remains still empty.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Andreas

Do you still have the configuration file? If so, view it in Salamander (or open it with Notepad) and search for 'Hot Paths', the sixth result should be a section named like [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.51\Hot Paths]. In sections below this one should be your Hot Paths listed. Are they?

What is a 'hot path panel'? I'd like to be sure I'm thinking of the same thing you're talking about. Is it the Hot Path Bar? Or the Change Drive Menu?

Ether,
maybe my fault :-(

Yes, all the Information are in the .reg file. I opened the .reg file with the new salamander installation. When I exit Salamander the empty (new) configuration will be written back to the registry, deleting the just imported information from the .reg file ?

Importing the .reg. information via Windows Explorer works fine.

Thanks for your support.

Andreas

Yeah. Either don't use Salamander for importing its own configuration or you have to go to Options > Configuration... > General and disable Save configuration on exit. That ensures that the configuration won't be overwritten. On next start of Salamander, the imported configuration will go in effect.

You have to shut down salamander and THEN import the regfile.
If you import the reg file while salamander is running it is normal that the data is overwritten with the configuration actually used in memory. Salamander does not check if the configuration was changed from other place after its been read or before it is stored.
