Hi,

Been a servant salamander user for many years, and love your product.
I'm using a virtual Windows 2008 64bit SP1 + TortoiseSVN 1.5.5, Build 14361 + WinMerge 2.12.4, under vmware station 6.03.

I've been facing this problem with V2.51 , and upgrading to 2.52B did not make things any better.

I'm not sure what is causing the hang, but once it occurs, I cannot relaunch Salamander (after I kill the process, it freezes when i try to relaunch it).

help would be much appreciated,

Please try to update your TortoiseSVN to the latest (currently 1.6.3) version. I've been having hanging problems with the TortoiseSVN 1.5.x as well, but no problems with 1.6.x yet

Just a note: please remmember your working copies will be upgraded to 1.6 version and will not be compatible with 1.5 if you ever want to downgrade. (the server protocol remains compatible and you can use TortoiseSVN 1.6 with Subversion 1.5 server)

It seems that at times, this problem still occurs to me on machine that has tortoise svn 1.63/1.64 installed.

When the problem occurs, try to set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.52 beta 1\Configuration\Enable Custom Icon Overlays to value 0 instead of 1 (I assume you have the 1 there?). Then try to Start new instance of Salamander and let us know. Thank you.

Thank you for the workaround - it has indeed allowed Salamander to startup again without any issues -:).
What is the meaning of this key? should i keep the 0 value?

It's Options > Configuration > Icon Overlays > Display custom icon overlays option.
Could you please try to turn it on and clear all Tortoise* handlers in the list?

done so (there were about 9 of them). After some time Salamander hanged again. this time though, changing HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Altap\Altap Salamander 2.52 beta 1\Configuration\Enable Custom Icon Overlays to 0 did not help - it still hanged up when starting up.
