Initial sort order

When I look for files, I'm usually most interested in the recent ones (MP3's I recently downloaded, business letters I recently wrote, etc.)

But when I either press CTRL-F5 or click the header in the file list, it always sorts with the oldest document first. Very annoying, cos now I have to press/click twice. :-)

I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case in older versions of Salamander, because I only noticed this behavior after I purchased the most recent version, last month.

Other than that: great product, keep up the good work!

Obviously, the feature request I'm doing here, is to change the initial chronological sort order to 'most recent first'.

Hi Jaco, look at Options > Configuration > Panels > Sorting > Sort by Time order: newer items on top.

I think that should be the default setting. I think it was in v2.5 and changed in 2.51.

The default sort order was changed to be compatible with Windows Explorer.

But Altap Salamaner is not Windows Explorer. If Windows Explorer was any good, then there would not be any Salamander.

We are trying to keep Salamander compatible with Windows Explorer as much as possible for simple reason: everyone knows it.

agree...but default Explorer settings do not mean they are the best. This app is superior to Explorer and does not resemble Explorer at all, so why keep Explorer default settings? If you wanted to resemble Explorer, maybe an Explorer button would be nice where it can display a complete Tree like Explorer. But we can go back and forth here. It is your application and you need to market it the best you can.

Thanks Jan, that works for me. I do, however, agree with vld: your product is far superior to Explorer, so don't stoop to its level by copying its misfeatures. The way Explorer does it, is so bad that I suspect no-one at Microsoft ever put any thought into it --or they would definitely have opted for another solution. For you to copy this odd behavior is, well, silly.
