been having unusual lockups when
opening files on the network or
when dragging a file from salamander
to another app. problem is not readily
reproducible though.
never experienced this problem with
older versions.
will try to pin-down a reproducable case.

other informations:
O.S. win xp pro 64. sp1
4G Ram
dual dual-core opteron 280.

Is Servant Salamander definitely freezed?

Could you start second instance and using menu Help > Task List break the freezed instance? Bug report should be generated in the freezed instance...

yep it was an extension problem, an
error can be generated if I switch off
salopen. using salopen can cause a
lengthy delay as described.
an error report has been emailed.
problem does not occur at all in explorer,
so I have to use that for now.

Could you uninstall the faulty shell extension?
