portable SS

SS is already a perfect piece of software to me, but I got an idea to improve it (according to my needs)
What about an option to story SS's settings in an ini-file in the program directory? I'm using SS often from my USB-Stick (while doing support on other machines), and it would be nice from SS to leave these registries untouched.

I suppose the only way to carry SS is in shareware version.
Am I wrong ?

I too prefer INI settings files instead of the registry.

From the license agreement:
After you have purchased the Commercial Use License (the "license") for Software, and have received the file enabling the registered copy, registered copy of Software may [...] be used by a single person who uses the Software personally on one or more computers
So I guess it should be fine.
I find the idea interesting but things would obviously not work everywhere (such as hotpaths and so).

We will support this option. Latest implementation of Windows Registry (Windows XP, SP2) is terrible slow (approximately 10 times slower than W9x and 5 times slower than W2K). The portability will be a big benefit too.

Technically, it works fine, simply use the SS-Programfolder and take it with you... I don't know what the license says but it should be okay...

Well, just copy the following files to your stick and you can use SS without installation via your stick:
- salamand.exe
- salrtl.dll
- salamand.key
- language-directory with one slg-file
