When you open SS it will start reading settings from registry. The splash screen shows what it is doing while you wait. There's no option built for switching this off. Whether you like it or not you still have to wait :D

ServantSalamander 2.5 b11: Start without splash

I certainly agree that the new splash screen is wonderful, but not to the extent that I want look at it at every start :-)
Is there a start-switch or another way to avoid this? Otherwise, this would be a welcome option for a future-version

Thank you

Sorry, but I don't understand: What's your problem :?
Reading the configuration from registry is essential and why don't look at a nice splash screen for about a second...
I think there're other real problems and important feature requests :!:

Our problem, I'm sorry -- we had troubles with system time on our web server.

I'll +1 to that request.

I don't have a problem with the splash-screen. Servant Salamander is the first application which starts and the last which is shut down (hence my RFE for adding an autostart-option to the installer). Even if I need a second instance, it's OK for me to see the splash screen for a 1/4 second.

New splash screen is ok, but there are people, who just do not like any of splash screens. I have to think yet, if I am the one.
Anyway it'd be nice, if splash screen could be switched off.

I must second that!

A switch-parameter to turn off the splash screen would be nice for me as well!

Some like the splash screen and some do not! I don't know of any application where the splash screen can't be turned off.

Some find it anoying and some find it ok. I use Servant Salamander since v1.x and am used to have no splash screen and personally I thought you would hear what users have to say about your product!

Please be prepared that some might not buy Servant Salamander because they don't like that cosmetic issue called the splash screen!

So, please include a parameter to disable the splash-screen.

Furthermore I would like to say, that I am not the Guest who initially created this thread.

Regards from a truly fan of Servant Salamander and please listen to what people have to say about this product and don't call them a lamer just because they don't like the splash screen.

Maybe there are more important things to do but listen to the users, otherwise you make the impression to be ignorant.

Kind regards,
Guest Nr. WhatEver

ALTAP do listen to what users have to say. But it's impossible to fulfill every individual's request right? A splash screen is not a cosmetic issue because it's not part of the UI and don't you think it's lame saying people will not buy this product because of a splash screen?

I doubt you will stop using this product just because of a splash screen. Would you think it's lame if people say "i don't like that button or that icon used in the UI so i will not buy the product" ?

Yes i understand not everyone likes splash screens. :D

omega: But Guest is right, many good applications that use splash screen have also option to disable it (e.g. Adobe Reader, Paint Shop Pro, ...)
