Thumbnail view + no PictView plugin = confusion

Without PictView installed there are no thumbnails of images available.

The manual misses the info about the necessity of PictView (or other appropriate plug-in) to see thumbnails of images.

Also it should be distinguished between computed and embedded thumbnails. The manual does not say directly about the difference.

(use integrated HELP search feature and search for "thumbnail" no quotes)
Altap Salamander: Working with Windows and Panels
:::: Selecting Current View

Is there a way to fix this? (Windows explorer does the thumbnail view natively)

The PictView is not only plugin providing thumbnails, see Plugins > Plugins Manager, the Thumbnails item. Another plugin is Eroiica Viewer and Demo plugin (part of Altap Salamander SDK).

It is not a problem to take Altap Salamander SDK, some free image library and create own GPL/LGPL licensed plugin that will provide thumbnails.

Jan, I know I know... I just have no time to experiment with the SDK.
I only thought that somebody with more experience would be so kind and provide that plug-in to all. Just the Thumbnailer for images.
