We are receiving bug reports about Altap Salamander 2.5 crashes caused by PixVue shell extension (image annotation software).

Bug report snippet:

Code: Select all

Call Stacks:
   Thread with Exception (ID: 0x898)
   IconThreadThreadFBody()
   IconThreadThreadFBody::work
   IconThreadThreadFBody::GetIconOverlayIndex(C:\Store\image001.jpg)
...
 Stack Back Trace:
   Thread ID: 0x898 (Thread with Exception)
   EIP = 0x65040A36 PixVue.dll
   (exception)

Unfortunately, the PixVue is no longer supported so it is not possible to ask authors for fixed version.

We decided introduce a new option in Altap Salamander 2.51. It will be possible to disable usage of icon overlay providers in Altap Salamander. Please look at attached screenshots.

Another solution is uninstalling faulty shell extension from your computer, please see How to track and disable faulty shell extension.

Looks promising. That should get rid of AS falling whenever some badly programmed extension shows up.
