Suggestion for an new option:

_____________________
Select the next [ 20]
(o) Files / Steps [ 2]
( ) Folders
( ) Files & Folders

( ) Bytes
( ) MegaBytes

[ ] Remember last item
_____________________

To select every second of the next 20 files

##################################

_____________________
Select the next [ 695]
( ) Files /Steps [ ]
( ) Folders
( ) Files & Folders

( ) Bytes
(o) MegaBytes

[x] Remember last item
_____________________

To select the next 695 MegaByte
and remember the last folder and file for the start of the next selection
(Or, if this is better to implement,
select as many as possible to NOT go over 695MB and remember the last folder only)

actually i could use that. especially when selecting files / folders to burn - for example when you would want to burn movie trailers to cds. with this feature, it would be a snap.

Perhaps this workaround could help:
Focus the first item (to burn) -> Hit space (=select item and focus next one) several times and look at the panel status line: Here you can see the total bytes and count of selected files. 8)

i know KNUT, that's what i do right now (and others, like shift + pg dn etc.), however this discussed feature would same me some time.

but it's far from my top must-have feature, just one i would find handy.
