hello, i am wondering what the "Date" item in the panel toolbar looks at to sort directories.

i want SS to sort by when the contents of a folder was modified. for example, if i move a file to a folder, that folder will then be at the top of the list. is this possible?

Yes, just clear the Sort by Time: sort directories by name box on page Panels in configuration (menu Options / Configuration). And then sort panel by time (Ctrl+F5 key) - do it twice to reverse sort order.
