FTP Plug-in Request

I know that the FTP plug-in isn't finished yet, and I hope that once it is it will contain all the disabled features that are in the beta version.
Secondly, I would like to see a feature for FTP "bookmarks" with folders inside of folders functionality and each folder containing the sites themselves.
Thirdly, I would like the ability to edit files right on the FTP site (I think this is already in the plans just isn't completed yet).
Fourth, I would like to see a 'bandwidth' throttling speed-limit setup both globally and on a per site basis (with sites inheriting global definition unless explicitly defined with a site speed-limit).
Another feature I would like to see is a button on the toolbar for the FTP plugin which when clicked would popup the connect menu with this folder hierarchy (similar to FlashFXP, FileZilla, etc).
Lastly I would like to set permissions (with recursion).
Thanks

Try Change Attributes command (Ctrl+F2 key) when FTP is in panel, I believe it's what you are asking for.
We have all these things on to-do list, so we plan to implement it. It's just about priorities and time.

Ok great. Thanks.

Some other RFEs:
Ability to set in ftp plugin configuration that "LIST -a" shall be used as default, unless I set in one individual ftp profile something else. Why? I really really really hate to set this for ALL my ftp servers individually...and for quick connect i I have to set it every time I use it! This drives me crazy...please save me from hospital
IMHO "LIST -a" shall be used as default when "Options-Configuration-panels-hide hidden" is unchecked -- why does this setting rule for all file systems BUT ftp? That makes no sense, always seeing hidden files but in ftp they're hidden...
Ability to sort/arrange the WinSCP profiles like the FTP profiles, and for both, offering 2 Buttons (up and down arrow) so one sees "ah, i can change the order" and thus is seduced to try drag&drop too. For the current view: I was surprised D&D works...then remembered I am using SS and of course there is such functionallity

According to RFC 959 (FTP Protocol), there is only one command for listing: "LIST". Undocumented command "LIST -a" is neccessary on some unix systems to get whole listing (unix ftp-servers hide files starting with '.'). Ideally Salamander retrieves complete listing and before displaying it in panel, it does hidden files/dirs filtering if user wants to.
So that's why "LIST -a" can't be set as default now. I will think again about adding this option, but I'm not sure it's reasonable now (reaction of general ftp-server to "LIST -a" is not defined).

FTP bookmarks need upgrade - add tree, etc. It's in plans.

Vote for a change..

Hi all,
thanks for the forum in the first step - the hiden files was THE bug that made me hope for another Salamander version, so its good to know that its in the current RC1 allready.
Non the less it was really taking nerves for 2 month now till i found the answer (ok, look in the support forums earlier) - but it would have been nice to find that option when doing the natural thing - crawling the context menu.
So also I can understand the argument above why not to go with a LIST -a as default I would definitly vote for a change - maybe something like an option 'show hidden files' in the FTP prefs leading to that change - or even as an option in th context menu of the world icon in the top left coner of an open FTP connection. (Where you have Disconnect, Transfer mode, Show Raw listing..)
For me its easy now - also its right that the change is to be made for every new server- but i believe lots of other users might be happy to have the same thing more easy to find..

I am new user of servant salander. I absouletly love it! Except, I would like to see more functionality in the ftp client. I manage hundreds of sites and would like to be able to organize my ftp info. I can in my other ftp client, but hate it, and want to use SS soley.
Is this in the works?

Yes, we plan to do it, but it will not be in version 2.5.
