My other questions (some are new):

Could you reproduce this problem also on directory?

Does it matter if file is on local hard disk, flash disk or network drive?

Could you please also check Hidden and System attributes?

The operating system is Windows XP?

Regarding the progress window: so the delay comes when progress dialog box is closed (not displayed anymore)?
It is happening randomly, after I restarted my PC and attached a debugger to AS252b1 exceptions occured on rename and the delay was experienced.
After I repeat couple of times no more exceptions and no more delays.
You are talking about rename here. Do you mean Files > Quick Rename (F2)? Did you notice delay even after this command? We thought the problem was related only to Files > Change Attributes command (Ctrl+F2) ?

Can we send you special "traced" version of Salamander, that will log events into file?

sorry, i mistyped "change attr" and typed "rename" instead.

* directory: yes, just tried on an empty directory and it froze for a while
* hidden / system sometimes, apparently does not have to do with readonly alone
* os = xp / sp 3
* regarding delays: when as25 freezes no progress dialog shows, it just freezes and keys do not respond, they will be queued and take action after the freeze. i sent you a video by email

Elias, thank you for all information and video. Unfortunately we are unable to reproduce this problem and we decided to ignore it until there will be more users reporting it.

These unreproducible issues are VERY time consuming and we need to move on. See similar problem: http://forum.altap.cz/viewtopic.php?t=3053

Hello Jan,

Thanks for your attention and prompt support.

If something else, more robust, shows up will let you know.

No problem here. Attributes are removed and set instantly, no matter if directory (empty or not) or file, if single or multiple files / directories. I used CTRL + F2.

AS 2.52 beta 1
Windows XP SP2 (German)

Best wishes
