unRAR plugin and authenticity archives

Post by dbeko »

If you try using Servant Salamander's plugin to unrar an archive with the authenticity verification bit set, Salamander hangs. Can we get something addressed on this please? Perhaps there's a way to recognize the authenticity verification is present and error out more gracefully? Thanks.

unRAR plugin and authenticity archives

Can you please send me (petr.solin at altap.cz) some sample RAR archive on which I can reproduce this problem?

I have tried to create archive with "Put authenticity verification" turned on. It works well (tried with WinRAR version 3.70 beta 6 and also with older version 3.61).

I don't have any such archives handy but I'm referring to using the RAR plugin to uncompress, not calling WinRAR itself. WinRAR will uncompress these archives, no problem.

The problem here is that when I hit the <enter> key on a RAR archive and it has the authenticity flag set, Salamander hangs because the plugin hangs. If I crash out of Salamander, re-execute it and then right-click on the same archive and choose WinRar to open it, it's fine.

I created test archives in WinRAR, but browse and unpack them in Salamander. It works well for both mentioned versions of WinRAR (as creator of authentified RAR archives).

I cannot fix this bug because I cannot reproduce it here. If you get some public RAR archive with these problems in future, please send it to my email (petr.solin at altap.cz). Thanks!

Hi,

I can reproduce some error at unpacking on solid encrypted winrar archives, maybe this helps. If I remove -s (solid) from my scripts, unpacking with AS works again.

Great! Can you please send me (petr.solin at altap.cz) some sample RAR archive (pack some not confidential files) on which I can reproduce this problem? Plus give me the version of used WinRAR and what options were used. Thanks!

I can unpack entire archive with AS plugin, but if I try to copy out just a single file, it's giving error after password request.
