Slightly off topic for this board, I hope that's fine.
A few of us who still swear by two panel file managers started a small chat to share tips: Salamander plugins, keyboard shortcuts, scripts for batch renaming, that kind of thing. It's around 120 people now, mostly sysadmins and developers.
A couple of members brought in most of their colleagues, and those newcomers are now the ones answering questions. We wanted to give the inviters some credit, but the numbers were inflated by people who joined from a link, read one tip and disappeared.
We ended up with an invite bot that ignores people who leave after a day, and it was a lot more honest about who helps the group grow.
If anyone else runs a small user group around a tool like this, how do you get people to stay past the first question?
