I would like to kindly ask for advice on what else I can do to get proper display of Polish characters such as ł, ó, ć, etc.
Attached are some screenshots of my Windows 11 settings and the results in AS.
Interestingly, when I use F2 to rename a file, the quick-rename window shows the characters correctly.
Thank you in advance for support and kind regards,
Kamil

Re: Problems with Polish characters
Salamnder does not support unicode. Hence you have to set the System locale to Polish

Re: Problems with Polish characters
Thank you for your reply. My settings are already as you recomended, i.e. for Polish language (see the previously attached screenshot).
Re: Problems with Polish characters
I would like to add the following:
I often receive filenames from a Slovak environment.
Name in Windows explorer:
Z25BORY032 Klubalová
Shown name in Salamander:
Z25BORY032 Klubalova´
I tried Slovak and Czech as a locale for non unicode programs.
Environment is Windows 11, current verion.
Salamander shows the file but no action is possible.
General windows language is set to German. There is no other language installed.
Ususally I rename such files in Windows explorer. Now I found a few forum contributions addressing this topic.

Re: Problems with Polish characters
You can try the OpenSalamander clone - Sally, which is actively developed by 0xeb
https://github.com/0xeb/sally
it has unicode support and that should help you with the problem.
Just keep in mind that it's a 3rd party developer and Sally may have bugs.
