Reality check on the Open Source transition?

Post by Angus »

Hey all
I was really excited when Salamander went open-source, expecting a burst of new updates and easy community builds. However, looking at the GitHub activity lately, it feels like things have stalled more than I anticipated. I’ve tried to look into how the infrastructure and code-signing certificates are being handled now, but the lack of a clear funding model seems to be the bottleneck here. It’s one thing to release the code, but quite another to keep the lights on for servers and official releases. I’m definitely no expert on project management, and I've tried digging through old threads to see if I missed a donations page or a roadmap, but I’m coming up empty. Does anyone here have experience with how similar legacy tools survived this phase, or are we just waiting for a miracle volunteer?

There are a few people working on it in their forks.
