Find Files inside compressed files. (ZIP, CAB, etc.)
Find Files inside compressed files. (ZIP, CAB, etc.)
I needed to search for a file inside a CAB file the other day and had to use XP's native search. (Hate it). A nice addition would be the option to search inside support archive files.

I think it's not so easy. For example to get list of files in tar.bz2 you need to unpack nearly the whole archive. Next example with password protected RAR (with password protected list of files).
For small files, it can work on-the-fly, but with 300MB tar.bzip, ouh. Maybe will be a good idea to do this via plugin with some extended setup options.

ALTAP Roadmap - Support for nested archives, searching in archives.
To meet this problem, we could have 2 checkboxes: "search in archives providing file list directly" and "search in archives that have to be unpacked to obtain file list" (of course a better wording, it's just about the meaning )cincura.net wrote:For example to get list of files in tar.bz2 you need to unpack nearly the whole archive.

"Find Files inside compressed files" is not any more on the roadmap http://www.altap.cz/salamander/roadmap/
Did anyone find a good workaround? I do manually unpack all archives to a temp folder, search there, then delete the temp folder - not really nice...

Sounds interesting. I don't find such a script in my Salamander installation - could you please point me to a download page?tukanos wrote:Yes, using the Automation plugin.

Well, if the pre-installed scripts do not cover your needs, you will have to write your own.
Here is what is pre-instlled: To write your own plugin search for automation at http://www.altap.cz/salamander/help/
