Hi. . .
Due to Photobucket's recent decision to charge $399/year for 3rd party site linking to Photobucket photos, my tech forum site will be hosting all images, but many hundreds of imbedded URLs need to be changed. I have copied all of the screenshots to our server using Altap -- using the same path and file names as are currently being used. The only portion of the URL that needs to be edited is the beginning portion (site name).
I used Altap Salamander to upload/FTP the images to the server in the appropriate directories, then use "EDIT"; "Copy path + name as text" to obtain the new URL. The problem is the format of the URL that gets copied to the clipboard.
Example:
OLD URL = http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb479/hateater2496/ServicesVista7/disableServices0_zps14aa7056.png
NEW URL =https://www.sysnative.com/writhziden/tutorials/images/ServicesVista7/disableServices0_zps14aa7056.png
Using "EDIT"; "Copy path + name as text" to obtain the new URL using Altap Salamander gives me -
ftp://sysnativ@ftp.sysnative.com/public_html/writhziden/tutorials/images/ServicesVista7/disableServices0_zps14aa7056.png
For each URL obtained this way, I have to manually delete "public_html/" and change the beginning from ftp://sysnativ@ftp to https://www
Is there any way to get a good, clean URL from Altap Salamander where the beginning portion is valid + the public_html is not present?
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Regards. . .

Re: URL Formation via "Copy path + name as text"
Hi,
The URL returned by AS is valid. You're probably confused about the rather seldomly used username portion (sysnative@).

What's the problem about replacing 'ftp://sysnativ@ftp.sysnative.com/public_html' with 'https://www.sysnative.com' ?Wikipedia
A generic URI is of the form:
scheme:[//[user[:password]@]host[:port]][/path][?query][#fragment]
Re: URL Formation via "Copy path + name as text"
Replacing it is not a problem at all -- that's what I usually do. I paste it into a browser address bar, get rid of the "public_html", then get rid of the FTP prefix; replacing it with "www".
I asked if there was an easier way to format the URL as I'm always on FTP and copy a lot of links out to be used in forum posts.
I thought perhaps Salamander had the capability to reformat the FTP link into a useable HTTP link.
It would not be the first time that I've found that Salamander can do something that I knew nothing about.
Thank you,
John
